RILEY'S FISH SHACK

Hiya hinnies. Welcome back! I hope your all well and enjoying the Easter holidays.

If you've been watching Channel 4 lately, you'll have either watched the TV series, 'Hidden Restaurants' with Michel Roux Jr, or you'll have at least seen it advertised (if not, 1. where have you been? 2. watch it!). Michel Roux Jr recorded a whole 1 hour episode up here in this bonny part of the world, that is the North of England, and this beautiful little hidden treasure was a main feature of this particular episode and my god, I can totally see why. How beautiful. Amazing food, great staff and a fabulous view. Serving perfectly cooked seafood is the heart and soul of the staff working in this little shack and for a tiny little restaurant, it is by far the nicest place I have ever eaten seafood.

I've been lusting over this place for months as a place I've been dying to try and eventually, we got there. Hidden amongst the rocky edges of King Edwards Bay in North Shields, it is so well presented with their rustic decor and quirky representation of a high class seafood eatery. I am in awe of it's cosy yet unique vibe. I just love it.

We were served Pollock and a half of Lobster and we were not disappointed one single bit. Dishes served here are accompanied with a baton of crusty homemade bread, a bed of samphire salad and a side of garlic potatoes which all tasted as equally amazing as the fish. Armed with a glass of vino and crisp sea air, it was a delightful way to enjoy a seaside meal.

Do not be fooled by the prices, yes, it is a little shack and you are paying higher restaurant prices, but trust me it is so worth it. For anyone just expecting classic fish and chips this is probably not your thing. A bonus about this place is everything is fresh. Like, I mean, caught on the day fresh. An amazing must visit for any seafood lovers. They also offer alternatives for those who are vegetarian and vegan which is really cool. After a brilliant experience here, I'll be definitely visiting again.

- I hope you enjoyed this little read and please let me know of your favourite place to eat in the North East of England -

love Sam
